The Phoenix
The Phoenix is a 3d CG model that I was building as a hobby.
If it was real it would be a little over two hundred feet long.
The model was inspired by the ship from the Japanese anime Gatchaman, also known as Battle of the Planets and G Force.
I wanted a ship that woud comfortably sustain a crew of six adventurers for extended periods in space. As well as having ample room for the crew the ship also had to accomodate the smaller team vehicles.
The Characters
Part way through the development of the Phoenix's detailed interior Peter Jesso, a friend of mine who was in the habit of dropping by often asked me if I could make a crew that looked like us.
The answer was a flat NO.
A month later I discovered the next best thing and Frank and Vaughn were born.
The Story
About the same time the characters started to appear another friend suggested I have a go at an animation and the world changed.
Deciding to go for it without any prior experience I felt that if we were going to do it we should go all the way and develop
something with substance.
The Phoenix was designed for "super hero" types but I didn't want to do a show in a genre that I felt I couldn't contribute anything new to.
A year later I completed the scripts for the entire first season of twenty, twenty two minute episodes as well as plotting the story arc for the second and third (final) season.
The Challenge
The biggest challenge the crew and I have had to face is our lack of experience. So far however we have managed to over come every hurdle and move forward. Natural talent, motivation and desire to see this project come to life is turning us into professionals.
Our lack of budget and outdated equipment has been an issue as well. The 3D modeling and animating platforms are very demanding.

The Crew
Since the conception of the project the Rebel Yell team has gone through many changes and suffered through more than a few growing pains.
Despite the seemigly insurmountable odds and obstacles our die hard group has weathered every storm and is ready to take on the world!
